General Information
Our Day:
- We spend our mornings working on literacy, "WIN" time (what I need), and writing. Lunchtime is 12:35. Our afternoons are spent learning math, social studies/science, and attending our specials.
- We encourage each student to bring their own snack daily, especially because we have a late lunch this year. W e will be eating our snacks in the morning. Please make sure they are ready to go, healthy, and nut free.
- Attached is the pdf that was emailed home.
- With every new math unit, a packet of all of the unit Homelinks will be sent home. I send them home all at once because I understand some nights are more busy than other nights. You and your family can complete the math homework together at your own pace, and each page should only take about 5-10 minutes. Then have your child turn the packet in all together by the final due date (marked on at the top of the cover page).
- First grade families are asked to read with their child daily. Try to make a goal of 15-20 minutes. We send books home to read in your child's reading folder, but feel free to read more than those books. When your child returns their completed reading folder, new books will be sent home. You don't just have to just be at night! You can read in the car, in a waiting room, at the park, almost anywhere!!
- We will go to checkout books at the library weekly. Students will be able to take home books. Please read and enjoy the books, and then be sure to return them by the end of the week, so they can check out more!
- Did you know…teachers work together to use best practices in order to meet the needs of every child? We use a variety of flexible grouping strategies in order to differentiate for varying needs. Sometimes children will work with ELP teachers, other classroom teachers, ESL teachers, or special education teachers—depending the constant changing needs of children. Working with specific teachers or specific groups does not indicate any particular flag or label; rather, we continuously strive to provide the best services for your child.
